The Bell in Ticehurst, East Sussex
Extensions to a grade-II listed pub to provide seven new bedrooms and a new restaurant and kitchen
We are delighted to be working at The Bell in Ticehurst, a beautiful grade-II listed building with an amazing garden set in the heart of the village conservation area. In 2020 we completed a new extension to the function room to provide a second bar for wedding guests. The extension is clad in copper shingles which is slowly weathering down and now looking very natural in amongst the existing roofscape.
The next phase of work will see the construction of four new bedroom lodges along with a further three new bedrooms in the neighbouring building, which is also grade-II listed. A new 40-seat restaurant will be built between the two buildings with a new open kitchen facing towards both the restaurant and the pub garden.
The design is not ours alone, but a close and enjoyable collaboration with the client, the design team, and Rich Brett’s team at We Like Today, who are the interior designers and work together with us on the concepts.
The project will enable The Bell to better accommodate the many weddings that take place every year, provide even more incredible food to people dining in the restaurant, and continue to welcome pub drinkers. The Bell is a special and beautiful place and we are looking forward to making it even more so.
The Bell is a beautiful place to go for a meal, to stay for a night or longer, or to get married.
